Support After Bystander Resuscitation Network (SABRE)

The SABRE network is an international collaboration established in 2024 to strengthen support services for people who have attempted CPR during an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. The network meets every three months online, and in person at conferences, to share knowledge, collaborate and support the formation of bystander support services. All are welcome to join.

There will be a face-to-face meeting of RACe (Recovery After Cardiac arrest) on 12/05/2026 in Edinburgh.

Please contact Vicky.joshi@gcu.ac.uk if you would like to join and/or if you would like to be included in the SABRE mailing list.

Partners include the RAKOS Follow-up Program for First Aid Providers in Norway and the Bystander Support Advice line provided by Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.

Note: SABRE use the term ‘bystander’ to refer to anyone outside of an organized professional response. This includes qualified First Aiders and Healthcare Professionals who have provided First Aid support or witnessed an Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OHCA). It is not referring to bystander apathy or the bystander effect, which is sometimes talked about in First Aid training settings.
(Other overlapping terms include First Aid Provider, Lay Person, Lay Rescuer, Lay Responder, Lay Helper, Active Bystander, First Aider)
